And, are these laws misused to supress unwanted satire or criticism? Insult: Beleidigung. Slander: Übel nachrede. Defmation: Verleumdung. The 1978 movie Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is noteworthy for several reasons: Despite its intentionally low budget and campy nature, the movie has garnered a significant cult following since its release. Its bizarre premise and over-the-top humor have made it a favorite among fans of B-movies and campy horror-comedies. The film is a parody of B-movie horror and science fiction films. It exaggerates the absurdity of the genre, featuring killer tomatoes as the main antagonists, which highlights the ridiculousness of many horror movie plots. The film's popularity amongst connoseuirs of that genre led to a franchise that included several sequels, such as "Return of the Killer Tomatoes!" (1988), "Killer Tomatoes Strike Back!" Before stricter health regulations came into place, long-length cigarette commercials would be played in cinemas before the movie. These comercials often portryed an idealistic, lavish or advernturous lifestyle that had very little to do with the product itself. This form of advertising is no better illustrated than by this Peter Stuyversand commercial from 1985. "When it’s sun up in Malibu its midnight in Monte Carlo. When Rio strips for the day, LA rides the high rolling sky. If you seek snow, go ski hop the Alps from Chalet to Peak or play the world wherever the urge hits you. In Saint Tropez you sport the bare necessities. And Ipanema wears a honey tan while you watch your man. Or race the Cote d’ Azure and chase the smiles all the way to carnival Brazil.
